A Righteous Man

In my small group we are doing a study on Growing to Be Like Christ:Discipleship. One of the scriptures was Psalms 37:4-5. These are my heart scriptures. I decided to read on. This is what I discovered.

What God will do for a righteous man:

He will uphold him.
During disaster, he won't wither away.
During famine, he will have plenty.
He will inherit the land of the Lord.
God will make him shine, give him favor.
He will make his steps firm.
God will delight in him.
He won't forsake him.
He will protect the righteous man.
He gives him salvation.
In troubled times, God is his stronghold.
He helps, delivers, and gives refuge.

What the righteous man does:

Trust in the Lord.
Delights himself in the Lord.
Is still and WAITS PATIENTLY.
He doesn't fret.
Instead his hope is in the Lord.
He is meek and enjoys peace.
He gives generously.
He is always generous and lends freely.
The righteous man's mouth utters wisdom.
His tongue is just.
God's law/Word is in his heart.
He continues to wait again for the Lord.
He is faithful to God.
He keeps the Lord's ways.
Finally, he considers the blameless, observes the upright and walks in peace. He continues to take refuge in the Lord and always going back to Him.

I want to be righteous!

One last word of encouragement:

Psalms 138:8 The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me.

Joshua 1:8-9 Meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go!

Our God is sooooo good to us!

Flipped Off

Have you ever been flipped off by an irrate driver?  Today was my first experience.  I was minding my own business and turning into the right exit lane with my blinker on.  I began to pass the car beside me when he laid on his horn and pulled right behind me.  Along with the horn came the dreaded finger.  I am sure he was saying some pretty nice words too.  He never turned his blinker on, so how was I to know he wanted to get into that lane.  I thought that would be the end of the flipper guy.  WRONG!!!  He comes flying past me once we got on the main road and pulls out in from of me.  It didn't end there.  He then slams on his brakes hoping that I would hit him.  He did that a few more times and then flew off.  I actually thought it was a humorous moment.  I wanted to roll down my window and laugh.  If we all would just use our blinkers we would all be safer drivers.  I was just hoping a cop had seen the whole display.   What a funny end, the flipper guy gets a ticket!

Hit the Road

Today was the perfect day for a road trip.  All I needed was a roadtrip CD and there you go.  I would love to just drive and drive until I got tired.  I don't know where I would drive but I want to just drive.  I am sure that within four hours I would be ready to throw in towel and be home.  But to have that adventure and that change...  How much fun would that be?

Itsy Naps

One of the best parts of having a cute fluffy dog are the naps she takes. She has been curling up close to me (hogging the bed) and just naps. She looks around once in a while to make sure I am still there. Too cute! What makes it even better is watching her and realizing it really would be nice to also take a nap. So I curled up right next to her took a nap too.

Falling Apart

All around me relationships are falling apart. Not just dating relationships but marriages. These aren't my secular friends but my Christain ones. It breaks my heart. I can see their mistakes but they can't see them. They only see each others. How heavy my heart is. My marriage has only gotten better each year that we have been married. Theirs is just the opposite. It only gets worse. Trent and I don't do anything special to make ours work. I guess maybe the biggest thing is space. We give each other space. We both are willing to bend to help out the other's needs. But those are just little things. How can marriages that start out in love and good intentions turn out so bad?

SEEING RED

After 5 coats of paint in my super small half bath I am seeing red. Not just red in color but red in frustration. I had this crazy idea that I wanted a red room. I first thought that I would have a red basement. I decided that it would be just too much work. I had visited a friend's house and she had a red bathroom. It looked really nice. So for my summer project I would also have a red bathroom. I learned my first mistake. When the directions on the paint say "wait 4 hours between coats" it really means 4 hours between coats. ( Like I have ever read the paint cans directions before ) When using red satin, don't use a paint brush for cutting in, use a roller. Ugh!!! I didn't do any of this. Also when taping off in a small space, don't use the thin tape, use the wide so that the paint doesn't get on the door facing! Now I have a @!ity bathroom. Oh well, it was my summer project. I guess I could always spend another butthole load of money repainting it.

Big Band

Last night Grumps and I went out on the town with friends to a battle of the bands concert. I thought we were going to a Jazz festival. Jazz is cool but we went to something even better. It was Battle of the Big Bands. Some of my favorite music. It takes me back in time, I time that I have only lived in dreams and in books, the Big Band Era. The first band played the real band feel, just like Glen Miller Band. The second band was the Frank Sinatra band. Playing all of the old favorites. One of the best parts was watching all of the couples swing dance to the tunes. How I wish I could swing! There was this old, old, old couple just a swinging. I guess there was more swaying by his part and twirling by hers. What a pair! I wondered what they were thinking. Would Trent and I be like that when we are old? :)

We ended the night in a hopping part of town where everyone was cruisen the strip. We had a late night snack at a hip diner where I indulged in french fries and butterscotch brownie with carmel sauce with ice cream and whipped cream. As the waitress described it, "Orgasmic!" We found are way back home around 1am. It has been a long time since we were out late on the town. I felt young again. HA!!!

The Fourth of July

Last year for the Fourth of July we went downtown DC to the Capitol steps and watched the concert including Dolly Parton. It was a wonderful experience being surrounded by thousands on the Nation's Capitol. I really didn't think that it could get any better. This year, we were invited to watch the fireworks from the White House south lawn. The day began with RAIN. I prayed and prayed for it to move out. Sitting on wet blankets in the rain really didn't sound fun. God is so good. He moved out the rain. Trent and I brought our blankets and staked the best spot on the lawn, on a small hill with the Washington Monument to the side. A perfect view for the fireworks. Ice cream was given to us along with sodas. There was a band playing patriotic tunes along with thousands to join in on the fun. As it began to get dark, out on the balcony George W. Bush stepped out to wish us a hello. The band played Happy Birthday for him and we all cheered. How cool is it to be on the President's lawn. At 9:10 the fireworks began. We stretched out on the blankets to enjoy the lights. The fireworks were so amazing. They were 3-D jumping right to us. I couldn't have been at a better place at that very moment. How amazing!!! I didn't want to leave but after the 20 minute show it was time to go home. I felt like I had been to heaven and back.

Itsy's Camping Adventures

We have been home awhile from all of our adventure. I have spent sometime just relaxing. I am on my 3rd movie for the day. I know, terrible, just terrible.

Itsy's latest adventure was her first camping trip. Even though Itsy is an indoor dog, she sure loves the outdoors. She couldn't stop digging in the dirt. Rubbing her face all in it and putting anything and everything into her mouth. At first she was a little overwhelmed with all of the sounds and smells. Trying to potty was just a little much. She couldn't concentrate enough to get it out. :) Of course part of camping is hiking. It really isn't my favorite part, but it is Grumps'. we had to go on hikes that Itsy was allowed on. Our first hike was 2 miles round trip to a lookout point. The most Itsy had ever walked in her life was down the sidewalk to the mailbox. We thought we would have her walk until she got tired. She walked to the top, 1 mile. When she got up there she was wiped out. It was too cute. After a nap we headed back. Towards the end of the hike she looked like she couldn't go anymore, we took over. The next day we hiked a 3 mile round trip hike to a waterfall. This hike was very rocky. But like the day before, Itsy couldn't get enough. We did find that she hiked best with me in front, giving her a reason to keep going, to catch up to me. :)
