My Scary Dog

Every Wednesday night my neighbor, K and I get together for pizza, drinks, sweets and Lost. We have been having Pizza Night for over a year now. We rotate who buys pizza.

Tonight was my night. For a little variety I ordered Papa John's extra large BBQ Chicken and Bacon (Only half with Bacon so that K's husband can participate.) and a large thin crust pepperoni and mushroom (our usual). I can smell it waiting for me right now. YUMMMM!!!

The pizza man came. Itsy was going crazy as usual. Tonight the pizza man decides to 'play' with my dog. He barks back. Eggs Itsy on. He doesn't stop at just one bark. He goes on and on until Itsy is freaking out in my arms. If she could have, she would have eaten his hand off. It took all that I had to hold her back.

It was funny at first until she really got upset. It is good to know that my little foo foo dog has a little scare in her. If I was ever attacked, you betcha bottom dollar she would eat the face of my attacker.

I LOVE MY Scary dog!!!
Itsy only looks this good once a year. Now she is as puffy as a cotton ball, mattes and all!

Rough Toilet Paper

Why do public places, especially work places, have to have rough toilet paper? I know that they are trying to save money but making my butt hurt all day is grounds for a lawsuit.

Sandpaper toilet paper HURTS. With every wipe there is more pain. There is nothing else to do but use it, but I ever so dread every swipe.

I have thought about bringing my own toilet paper to work. I could put my name on it and keep it in the cabinet. I could put a rope around it and carry it with me when I go take a 'break'? I could even just start supplying the bathroom with my favorite toilet paper in bulk from Costco.

Something just has to be done. I am injured every day. It makes work even more miserable.

Stop the rough sandpaper toilet paper and bring in the soft, silky stuff!

I Feel Cheated

A couple of summers ago, upon a friend's request I blogged about body hair. I have to say it was and is my best blog entry ever. I had so much fun with it. It was read by many who learned great life lessons.

One of those dear readers sent me an email with this website. I think they must of gotten their idea from me. I still believe mine is way more funny than theirs.

I know that it isn't summer yet. It is usually during this great time of year that we all go on a shaving vacation and really let our legs and other parts go free for a time being. But maybe you need a good read from either me or them!

Yes, I went a little overboard with the linking, but it was fun!

Nosy Neighbor

I think I am the nosiest neighbor in the world. I live to be nosy!

When I hear something or someone outside, I run to my windows and do a little peek. I will even turn out my lights so that no one can see me doing the peeking! I have gotten so good at it that I will even crack my window to get the full conversation.

Tonight when I came home my neighbor was having their car towed away. Of course my mind goes to the drama and I think, "hmmm I wonder if they couldn't pay their bills." I could have been nice and thought, "the car won't work, it needs to be towed." But that isn't fun.

I not only watch drama, I create drama. I start making up stories about everyone who lives around me if I don't really know them. This summer I kept hearing noises coming from one of my neighbor's townhouse from my bedroom. His wife and child were on vacation so that just left him. I had myself so freaked out that he had locked them up and was lying that I hung out in my closet with my ear to the wall to get a good listen. A week later I saw his wife and kid and felt much better.

My other neighbor I believe is gay. I doesn't like talking to me but gets really excited when Grumps is around. He will find strange ways to talk to him. We also believe he listens to loud porn since we can hear the nice background thrushing beat through our walls.

Lets see, should I stop now? I could go on all night.

I am so bad, that now Itsy, my dog, is just as nosy. She hears a noise, she jumps off the bed and runs downstairs, while I turn off the lights and peak through the blinds.

Are you nosy? Any good stories?

Two Books Off the Stack

Have you noticed that my stack of books is getting smaller?

I am sure you haven't since I continue to add to the list. But I am doing my part in reading the books that are seriously stacked, okay a mess, beside my bed.

I finally finished 2 of the books: London Bridges and Honeymoon by James Patterson. Both were good. Honeymoon was super good at the beginning but like most books ends too quickly. London Bridges was a nice read. I read most of it today on the couch, but it actually had the opposite effect. It took too long to end.

What is my next read from my stack of books? That remains to be seen. I am sure I will start many more before I connect with the one that I finish!

Anyone have a great book I should add to my stack?

Thankfulness

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I LOVE Christmas and the meaning that it brings to my life but I love Thanksgiving and meaning of family.

Growing up as a kid every year we would gather around the table and share what we were thankful for. I used to dread that moment. I felt embarrassed sharing those kind of things with my family. My mom always went over the deep end. It would take way too long as the food got cold.

One year we had to bring a Bible scripture to table to share with our "What We Were Thankful For" list. I brought Psalms 100. I was getting older and beginning to truly understand the meaning of Thanksgiving. Family.

Since then it has been my favorite. I love the food that my mom makes. The time of laughter that we all share. I loved the games and movies we would watch once everything was cleaned up. I enjoyed laying close to my mom on the couch, feeling so close and loved. I loved eating the leftovers and dessert for the rest of the day. Making dinner whenever you were ready. I loved the friends that would pop over unannounced.

Being married has thrown a small kink into the family Thanksgiving. Grumps works all the time. There is really no point in taking that little bit of time off for the holiday when I only get 2 days off from work and my family lives at least 13 hours away from me. Now I can only dream of what is going on at home. I call and listen to the family get lunch together. I call to share the deals that I found while shopping. I laugh at what we ate and how lazy I was in the preparations of it.

Thanksgiving isn't the same but I am still very thankful.

I am thankful for my amazing husband, Grumps. He can drive me crazy sometimes like no other but then other times he can melt my heart.

I am thankful for my dog, Itsy. Yes, that sounds so silly but she has brought so much joy into our lives where joy was slim.

I am thankful for my family. We never see each other but life doesn't change when we are together.

I am thankful for my friends. My friends have turned into my family. They have carried me when the road got too long.

I am thankful for health and health to come!

I am thankful for my job, home, things, and life.

Most of all I am thankful for my God who loves me more than anyone can possibly show love.

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Even though I am 2 days late.

Good Smells

Thanksgiving dinner is now sitting in my fridge. I picked it up today Chicken Out! My car soooo smells good. It was hard to contain myself from busting open the food and making a nice big plate for a snack.

Tomorrow we will have a plate of turkey and rotisserie chicken.
Two big containers of mashed potatoes.
Two big containers of dressing, which I will say, "Pass" to.
Cranberry relish
Creamed spinached
Macci cheese
K will make a salad and veggies.
I will make yeast rolls.
Wegman's provided the pecan pie.

I know that we are lazy. But I bet my dinner tastes better than some. While everyone is slaving away, I will be laying in bed right up until lunch time.

All this talking about food is really making me want to go sneak some turkey!

Life's Little Pleasures

Today I arrived home to a nice surprise. Grumps had a handyman come and fix our door. Fix? You might say. Well one night we went out with friends for dinner while our other friends worked on laying our wood floor. We gave them a key to our house but didn't tell them not to lock the bottom lock because we didn't have a key.

When we got home of course we couldn't get in. It was cold, late and the weekend. Grumps and his friend walked around back to see if anything was open. Nope. So our friend begins to call a locksmith. Grumps on the other hand decides that he can fix the situation. He decides that he can kick in the door.

So he kicks! BAM!!!

He kicks again for good measure! BAM CRACK BASH!

OPEN!

We are now in our house but the doorframe and lock are screwed.

Pulling back from the scene and moving into present day, that was a year ago. Grumps finally decided that things needed to get fixed. Now I have a fixed door, a storm door, and a new lock/handle set. He also had the new hood installed above the stove.

How silly am I but I jumped for joy sending Itsy into a fit. I LOVE it all!!!

It doesn't take much to put a smile on my face!

If you get locked out of your house, I can send Grumps over. He still thinks he is Superman! I told him that it would have been cheaper to have had a locksmith come. He said, "I wanted to be inside. I didn't want to wait!" BOYS!!!

Forwards

I hate them! I despise them! They are a curse! They waste my time and fill up my inbox.

I know that they are sent out with the best intentions. I know that you thought that they would make my day. But my day is limited with time. I don't have enough time to read a forward that isn't funny or witty. I don't have time for a forward that has been passed around for years.

I got a forward the other day that told me if I wanted the answer to the important question than I needed to send it to 10 people and then hit the shift key. The answer would appear. WHATEVER!

I also got another forward about Touched By an Angel. It has been off the air for a long time. That email will not bring it back.

THINK before you send out forwards. Will they waste someone's time?

Now I do like a funny story, a creative game, a 'get to know you' message. Just think before you send out another forward next time. Is it a waste of time or truly something good?

Thanksgiving Favorites

Just like the past 3 years we will be home alone for Thanksgiving. Grumps is working and my family is meeting up together with my brother. So K and I are going to go and buy Thanksgiving dinner. I know that is an awful thing to do. But I have been doing that awful thing for the past 3 years and it is just fine in my book.

When I tell people what we do they give me such an ugly look. They go, "Really? How nice. HA!" Then I get the looks of pity. I am just fine without the big family meal. I would love to be with them but I am just fine without.

Anyways, we also get the many Thanksgiving offers. "Come to our house. We have plenty." How strange is that? I don't know their family or the inside jokes. We would just sit and answer questions. Therefore, we order our food.

Here are my favorites that we order:

MASHED POTATOES!!!! I can't get enough of them. I really like them lumpy so that I know that they are real.

WHITE MEAT TURKEY!!!! I love a big piece of juicy turkey.

VEGGIES especially green beans.

HOMEMADE YEAST ROLLS covered in butter.

PIES pecan and buttermilk are the best.

MY MAMA'S jello!!!

Share your favorites. Let's get our mouths watering early!

Inspirations

I had a conference to go to today about reading. A bunch of us from school went together. Right before the conference began an older gentleman set right beside me. I thought in my head, "Why me." He didn't look very happy. He was very serious. I was in my personal space.

As the conference began we listened and took notes from the speaker. Then she had us read a passage, right down our thoughts about it and then share with a neighbor. The older man was all alone, so I turned to him. He told me his name, Frank. I told him mine. Frank had to be in his late 60's early 70's.

I shared first. Nothing very insightful, just my thoughts.

He went next. He stayed quite serious but as he began to talk he had so much thought and wisdom. He began to relate with the passage.

He once had cancer. He was in the military and the Vietnam War. He was a recovering alcoholic and went to AA meetings.

As he talked, he had my full attention. I wanted to hear his story. I had so many questions. What grade did he teach? Why wasn't he retired? But it was time to listen to the speaker again.

We broke for lunch and I thought about inviting him to join us. I decided against it. After lunch when the meeting continued, we had another share time. This time I didn't even think about it, I was going to share with him again.

This time I asked my questions.

He had been teaching for 13 years. He taught first grade. He had retired from the military but wanted to teach.

My mouth dropped. I was in total shock. Why would someone of his age want to teach when he could stay at home and do hobby things? Do things that retired men do. First grade? That takes so much time and patience. But how amazing!

I asked him if the kids just loved him? Did they want to hang on him all day? Did they look to him as a grandfather? Did he love it?

All the answers were, "Yes" and a smile.

I then asked what did his wife think? He paused and smiled an even bigger smile. "She love it."

He told me stories of how his helped his students. How they emailed him. How he still met with many of them throughout the years. He told me how he sat on the floor with the kids and asked them to tell him what they had been thinking about the book. As he talked he brought tears to my eyes. I totally amazed me with his love and passion. Something I have been missing lately.

As the meeting came to a close we turned and started talking again. We shared different teaching ideas. We had so much in common. We couldn't stop talking. I told him what an inspiration he was to me. How honored I was that he sat beside me. What a blessing today had been with learning of his story. I told him that I hoped we bumped into each other some day. He told me that he would look my school up on the internet.

As he gathered all of the books he had purchased and couldn't wait to read and apply to his teaching, he told me, "God bless you" and walked away. I had met an amazing man. I believe one of the most amazing men I have ever met. My day was so complete because of Frank. Because of his excitement, love, dedication, passion, heart for teaching and children.

Shhhhhh

I have a little secret! Don't tell Grumps!

We had a little fun.

Outside.

On the hammock.

Grumps believes we had eyes watching.

Sarah singing her love songs in our ears.

I started it all.

I feel pretty proud of myself today!!! I am not a bad wife after all!!!

The New Me

Since almost turning thirty and actually hitting this great new age I have found that I am growing into a new me. Yes, it sounds crazy but it is true.

I am a teacher. Thank you for the applause!!! But when it came to clothes, I just really didn't care. Now that doesn't mean I looked gross and ugly. I just wanted to be comfortable and cute. When I went out I also just wanted to look nice but never hip. That has all changed. I look for the styles, the pointed shoes, things to make me look amazing and now just cute!

For instance, yesterday I got myself a really cute pair of Goucho (I have no idea how to spell this word but you get the picture) black pants. Of course Grumps lets me know that they are Coolots (another one of those words, if you know how to spell them please let me know.) and turned his nose up to them, but he hasn't seen them on me. So today I thought how I had to wear them with my hoochie mama black pointed toe boots. I worked hard to pull off this outfit but being a little nervous on the response. I always worry that what I think is cute others don't. That being said, I had a meeting with a mom and I told her just that, I wasnt' sure how this outfit would work. She tells me now that I am thirty it doesn't matter. I am myself and can just be me without worrying about all those worries. SO TRUE!!!

It is all about me and how I look and feel. I have so grown into me and this newness! I am so loving it!

Watch, tomorrow will be one of those days where I put the kakis and tshirt back on! But atleast I am sassy today! Oh by the way, I got tons of compliments, even from little kids!

WATCH OUT, Here I come!!!

Since it is Friday!

I know that most of you that read only read during work. Well people like me, a teacher, can really only read and catch up on the weekend.

Now I don't just catch up my blogging but also on house crap. So I was thinking about some of the things that I need to do this weekend and a couple of thoughts came into my mind. Sorry for the randomness of them but that is me!

How often do you change your sheets?
Are you one of those freaks that changes them weekly?
Even freaker, Immediatly after sex?
Or you love to lay in your filth till you can't stand it any longer?

My other to do thought had to do with sex. I just have to ask so I can totally look bad!

How often do you have sex in a given week, minus Aunt Flow?
I am not even going to give you choices. I want to hear it all! Poor Grumps never gets any. Yes, I am a bad wife but you just need to go to my Journey's blog to see why!

Please, oh please answer my questions! I need a good laugh or cry this weekend.

iPod #2

After hundreds of comments, HA!, I took some advice and put some new music in my cart to purchase.

Thanks you Iris for, Dierks Bentley song 'Come a Little Closer'. I hadn't heard that song before but it sounds like a goodie!!!

Thanks Monica for Lori McKenna. Beautiful Man and Fireflies. She is also new to me!

Thank you Justin. The only artist I knew was Ben Folds. I did recognize many of the other songs from movies and tv. Here is what I got from your list: Naked As We Came - Iron and Wine, Trapeze Swinger - Iron and Wine, The District Sleeps - Postal Service, and Landed - Ben Folds. iTunes didn't have Acid Song - Loudon Wainwright. So I didn't get a chance to listen to that.

Is anyone else willing to share?

Lunches

I hate making lunches. I think that the word hate is an understatement. I detest making them.
For my lunches I just grab. I don't make anything. I grab a soup in a cup. I grab a meal in a box. I just grab. I never give myself enough time to do anything much less make my lunch.

Now Grumps, on the other hand, he loves his lunches. If he needs a lunch, he wants sandwiches. He wants snacks. He wants good food. But we have a small problem. That problem would be that he hates making his lunches. He LOVES eating them, but hates making them. But guess what? He loves for me to make them. Go figure! All men love for things to be done for them.

I always cave in after I kick and scream and whine about doing it for him. I don't do anything special for his sandwiches. In fact his sandwiches are WAY better. He gives at leasts 30 minutes for his lunches. I put in 2. He gets mustard, mayo, cheese and meat on two slices of bread. He slices tomato and folds his meat. Of course he whines the whole time too.

I know, why make his lunches? It all comes down to love. I love my Grumps. I love him enough that I do the thing that I hate. I hope that every bite puts a smile on his face. I hope he thinks of me as he eats his sandwich.

Oh I did make a pretty good sandwich two days ago. The lunch meat was going bad so I put the entire pack on two sandwiches. For most men, that would be wonderful. For Grumps, it was a little too much. I did get a big laugh out of it!

iPod

I have been playing with my iPod this afternoon. I finally figured out the whole playlist and new smart playlists. So I have tried to organize my music a little bit more especially since I have 740 songs, 2.1 days worth of music.

I LOVE my iPod. It is the greatst invention for a music freak like me. I love iTunes just as much. I love that I can get my favorite songs for only 99 cents. It can get a little dangerous when that little 99 cents adds up. I love checking for new songs and being up with times.

Here are my recent adds:

Dirty Little Secret by The American Rejects
Empty Me by Jeremy Camp
Feel Good Inc. by Gorillaz
Grace Like Rain by Todd Agnew
My Desire by Jeremy Camp
Take You Back by Jeremy Camp
This Fragile Breath by Todd Agnew
Understand by Jeremy Camp
You're Beautiful by James Blunt
Goodbye My Lover by James Blunt
Michael Buble's It's Time cd from I
Ricky Martin's new cd from I

Does anyone have a 'new' song to share?

For my iPod lovers, how many songs and hours do you have on your iPod?

New Fav

I have discovered a new favorite! It is a crazy favorite. I saw it on tv and in CVS and thought, "Wow, I can't wait till I am sick to try that one." It is the new Sudacare Shower Soothers. You put this nice tab in the bottom of your shower and let the water hit it. It will soon create a 'spa' atmosphere. I use that worde losely. But it does clear your sinuses. It is like using Vapor Rub but without the sticky feeling you get in your nose. I can say that I feel clear and ready for bed. Now onto my morbid thoughts.

Is there anyone out there like me? I get these crazy thoughts like, "I can't wait till I am sick so I can try out a new product." "I wish I was sick so I could stay in bed." "If only I could have a cough, that way I have a reason to be noticed." That really is a messed up thought.

I will stop now with these crazy thoughts. But after I thought how cool it would be to get sick to try this new product, I RETRACTED it. Now I am sick and using the new, cool, product but still feel like poop!

Food

Oh My Gosh!!!

I have such a problem with food lately. I love it way too much. I really don't know what to do about it. I have done the whole lose weight program. I have actually lost a good amount of weight on it before. I know how to work out and get fit too. I used to be solid, now I just giggle.

So what is my problem? I can't stop eating. Why does it have to be so hard? Why does food have to taste so good? Why can't I just crave lettuce?

I will and can eat anything everything that I shouldn't. Right now I am on my second glass of wine with buttered popcorn flavored Jelly Bellies. I want to find some good chocolate to eat right now. My ice cream in my freazer is crying for me to let it out to get some fresh air. I already had some cheese dip with my tacos. Lunch was pizza. I had a few pieces of chocolate to just make it through my day. Tomorrow's lunch is pizza and so will be dinner. (Yes I have a HUGE issue with pizza, I can't get enough!)

I just need someone to help me. Here is what I think this person needs to do, get rid of all my food. Get rid of all my food temptations. Brainwash me! Make me hate bad food and love good food.

I guess I am living in a dream world. I guess I need to start looking for some self-control instead of my next cookie!~

Grumps' Rambles

Grumps called me today to ask if I had seen underneath the couch. We have hardwood floors and I guess some how dust bunnies find their way underneath the furniture. That will remain a mystery to me. Anyway, Itsy had found my flip flop and wanted to 'eat' it since it smelled so much like the things she loves, smelly things. G wanted to know if that would be okay. "Could she eat my sandle?" What kind of question is that? Of course not!

When I got home from work I made him dinner. As he takes his dinner downstairs he starts another conversation.

"Hey, this weekend, are you going to clean the house? I vaccumed and picked up and you did nothing."

"Ha!~" Was my reply.

"I did nothing? How about keep the kitchen clean, change the sheets, get you food to eat, clean the bathroom. Okay, well the bathroom isn't clean right now but just imagine if I never cleaned it. You would be up to your neck in scum. Yes, WE will clean the house this weekend."

Then I get this realiziaton! "Hey Grumps, did you know that in two weeks we get to put up or Christmas stuff?" Of course I have a HUGE grin on my face!

"Oh great, we can't seem to keep our house clean with the little that we have out now. I can only imagine what it will look like when we have out all that Christmas crap."

"Would you like to just skip Christmas?"

"Boy, would I love that, especially since after a month we have to put all that crap back away."

I guess this wasn't as funny as it was when it was taking place in real time. But maybe you can find some humor in it somewhere!

Mother in Law

How do you take your mother in law? I take mine with a glass of wine as I listen to her ramble off her questions from her list!

Blog Checkers

I know that I need to blog about my birthday weekend and how it feels to be 'old' but I don't have enough time to put into it tonight. But I did want to get something out there.

I find that my best time to blog is the weekend. I don't have any real responsibilites and life is so much slower, except for this weekend. This is also my time to catch up on all my blogs that I snoop on. When I check out my counter I find that at the end of the weekend, it is the slowest viewing time. I didn't understand why. I mean, this is when I am on and busy. Then it hit me. People are checking blogs when they are supposed to be working. I never thought of that before. I'm a teacher. I don't have that luxury. I spend time yelling at kids and 'working'.

I just thought everyone was like me, catching up and blogging on the weekend.

So here is my question, when do you blog and snoop on others? Weekend or weekday? Do tell!!!

By 30

I found this on a fellow blog, The Buzz. I saved it for this perfect day! It was found in Glamour titled "By 30". By 30 I should know these things.

1. How To Fall In Love Without Losing Yourself
2. How You Feel About Having Kids
3. How To Quit A Job, Break Up With A Man And Confront A Friend Without Ruining A Friendship
4. When To Try Harder And When To Walk Away
5. How To Live Alone, Even If You Don't Like To
6. How To Take Control Of Your Own Birthday
7. Not To Apologize For Something That Isn't Your Fault
8. What You Would And Wouldn't Do For Money Or Love
9. Who You Can Trust, Who You Can't And Why You Shouldn't Take It Personally
10. That Your Childhood May Not Have Been Perfect, But It's Over

Man I have to say I have learned all these things and am pretty good at them. Yes of course there are a couple that I am still working on, but for the most part I have done all of these. Some of them I didn't learn until this past year, my last year of being in my 20's. Those were hard lessons. After reading this list I feel pretty confident that I am now ready for that New Decade I was talking about earlier.

Can anyone add to this list something that I should know by 30 or will learn real quick?

The Eve of My 30th

I can't believe that the time has come! I can't believe that I am entering into a new decade. That is my new term for it. My New Decade, it sounds so much better than 30.

I have tried to be reflective this week on this new decade. I can't believe that I will be leaving the good ole faithful 20's. I remember when I couldn't wait to be 20. I just wanted to get older. I wanted to be respected and looked up too. NOW I am leaving this safe place and entering into a new place that seems so unknown.

Yes, I sound crazy, especially to those who are already in their 30's. But do you remember where you were when you turned 30? Do you remember how you felt? I remember when my mom turned 30. She sat out on the driveway in lawn chairs with her friend and laughed at life. They laughed about getting old. My mom already had 3 kids and I thought she was so old. That day she got TONS of flowering honoring her. I was 10 years old. 30 was forever away. I thought that it was as far as eternity.

When I hear 30 I have a picture in my head and I am not it. HA! I really am not it. I think of the TV show, Thirty Something. I loved watching that show. I thought they were so old. They all had problems and kids, affairs and big issues. I never thought that it would be me turning old with problems and no kids. I can't see myself as a character on the show. Well, maybe I can!

Last year when I turned 29 I think I took it pretty hard just knowing that the next year was 30 and my life goals had not been accomplished. It is funny how we have a plan for our lives and a picture of what we want it to be. I spent a lot of time last year mourning those things lost or that never came to be. Now that I am entering into my new decade I am going to celebrate me!
My friends who are 30 say that it is a good year. It is a good decade. Tracy says that she feels more relaxed and together than ever before. K says that it is a good place to be. I really hope they are all right. I am not liking getting older but I can at least have fun doing it!!!!
